J&K Govt Welcomes Rs 10,637 Cr Infrastructure Push: 19 Road & Tunnel Projects Approved

Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on June 23, 2025, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari after the Union government green‑lit 19 major road and tunnel infrastructure projects worth ₹10,637 crore. Highlighted initiatives include the Peer‑Ki‑Gali and Sadhana tunnels on National Highway 701/701A, a four‑lane flyover from Lal Chowk to Parimpora, flyovers at Magam‑Gulmarg and Pantha Chowk, the Zaznar‑Shopian highway upgrade and the Qazigund bypass.

Abdullah emphasized that these “vital” projects mark a “major achievement” in bolstering all‑weather connectivity, enhancing regional economic integration, and improving logistical links to remote and strategically sensitive areas. He committed to closely coordinating with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for their timely execution. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also applauded the decision, reinforcing J‑K’s path toward progress under central support.
