USBRL Project to Connect Kashmir with Rest of India by January

Date:

The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project is set to revolutionize connectivity in India, linking Kashmir with the rest of the country by January. Northern Railway General Manager Ashok Verma confirmed the project’s final phase, including the T-33 tunnel near Reasi, is nearing completion.

Key milestones, such as track-laying and the 3.2-km T-33 tunnel connecting Katra and Reasi, have been achieved, with electrical work and inspections by the Commission of Railway Safety (CRS) scheduled for the coming weeks. “We are hopeful of achieving connectivity in January, introducing Vande Bharat and other trains with a structured timetable,” Verma stated.

This achievement marks a significant leap for Jammu and Kashmir’s infrastructure development, with the USBRL project providing a seamless rail link to Delhi and beyond. The 17-km final stretch will enhance accessibility and economic growth in the region, fostering opportunities in trade and tourism.

The USBRL project underscores India’s commitment to bolstering connectivity and promoting regional development. As the region prepares for this transformative connectivity, the project is hailed as a landmark achievement, paving the way for greater integration and progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
