Kazakhstan has introduced an AI-powered pilot to digitally transform its construction industry, with Astana leading the initiative. As part of the country’s broader digital agenda, the capital has deployed AI-based monitoring technologies to track construction progress in real time.
The system is capable of automatically detecting unauthorised land use and identifying deviations from urban planning requirements. Alongside this, all 54 public services in the construction sector have been fully automated, with 100% of services now accessible online for citizens and businesses.
Kazakhstan has also launched a Unified Construction Portal operating on a one-stop-shop principle, integrating services from all stages of the construction lifecycle. The portal, launched in early 2026, brings together previously separate information systems to improve efficiency and transparency.
AI technologies are being piloted to automate verification of documentation submitted during project reviews, with future development focused on checking cost estimate accuracy and ensuring design solutions comply with regulatory standards.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has directed relevant ministries to launch AI modules for enhanced project expertise by the end of July. The initiative reflects Kazakhstan’s declaration of 2026 as the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, signalling a firm national commitment to embedding technology across key sectors including construction, energy, and logistics.
