The news of the upcoming Kashi Ropeway, which will connect Varanasi Cantt railway station to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple by May 2026, brings a sense of pride and excitement. For many years, pilgrims and daily travellers have faced problems due to Varanasi’s narrow roads and heavy traffic. The ropeway offers a smart and peaceful solution. The route will cover around 4 kilometres and will help thousands of people reach the temple with ease.
The system plans to run nearly 148 gondolas, each carrying about ten passengers. It is expected to serve almost one lakh people every day. This means that visiting the temple will become easier, faster and more comfortable for everyone, from elderly devotees to tourists seeing the holy city for the first time.
