PGIMER’s ₹61-Crore Multi-Level Parking Project Moves Closer to Completion

Date:

The ₹61-crore multi-level parking project at PGIMER, Chandigarh, is steadily progressing, with nearly 70% of the construction already completed. The seven-storey facility, designed to accommodate over 900 vehicles, is expected to significantly improve parking infrastructure for patients, visitors, and staff once operational.

Initially approved in 2015, the project is currently undergoing the necessary environmental compliance process to secure final clearances for large-scale construction spread across 26,000 square metres. PGIMER has initiated steps to appoint an environmental consultant to streamline approvals and ensure all regulatory requirements under environmental laws are fully met.

Contractor Rishabh Sharma confirmed that the major structural work has already been completed, with the remaining 30% ready to move forward once approvals are in place. This marks a strong foundation for the project’s final phase.

Lt Col Gurvinder Singh Bhatti, PGIMER’s Superintending Hospital Engineer, stated that the institute is in the process of issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) to onboard an environmental consultant. He added that the consultant’s appointment will also help accelerate clearances for other upcoming projects.

With the groundwork largely complete and compliance measures actively underway, the much-anticipated parking facility is expected to become operational by 2027, bringing major convenience and improved infrastructure to one of the region’s leading medical institutions.
