Afcons Infrastructure Secures ₹5,301 Crore Breakwater Contract for Vadhvan Port

Afcons Infrastructure has been awarded a major contract by Vadhvan Port Project Ltd. (VPPL) for the construction of a 10.14-km-long breakwater at the upcoming Vadhvan Port in Maharashtra. The project, valued at ₹5,301 crore, represents a significant step forward in India’s efforts to strengthen its maritime infrastructure and expand its global trade capabilities.

Vadhvan Port is being developed as India’s largest public port and is expected to become one of the world’s leading container ports. With a planned capacity of 23.2 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), the port is poised to play a crucial role in boosting cargo handling efficiency, supporting international trade, and improving the country’s logistics network.

The breakwater construction is a key component of the port’s development, providing protection for harbour operations and ensuring smooth maritime activities. Afcons Infrastructure, known for its expertise in executing complex marine and infrastructure projects, will leverage its extensive experience to deliver this strategically important project.

The contract further strengthens Afcons’ position in the marine engineering sector and highlights its capability to undertake large-scale, technically challenging infrastructure projects. Once completed, the Vadhvan Port development is expected to enhance India’s competitiveness in global shipping and contribute significantly to the nation’s economic growth.
