In a landmark move marking a new chapter in its century-long legacy, Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. has announced that it will rebrand globally as LANDCROS effective April 1, 2027. The transformation symbolizes the company’s evolution from a traditional machinery manufacturer into a global leader in sustainable, connected, and intelligent construction solutions.
The rebranding announcement comes as Hitachi Ltd. reduces its stake in Hitachi Construction Machinery to 18.4%, signaling greater operational independence for the equipment giant. The move is part of a broader strategy to position LANDCROS as a future-ready brand focused on technological innovation, decarbonization, and digital transformation across the construction and mining sectors.
According to the company, the new name — LANDCROS, derived from “Land” and “Cross” — represents its mission to “connect land, people, and innovation” through next-generation equipment and data-driven construction ecosystems. The brand will unify operations across more than 100 countries, strengthening its global identity and enhancing customer engagement.
President and Executive Officer of Hitachi Construction Machinery, Kotaro Hirano, said the rebrand reflects both legacy and future ambition. “We’re stepping beyond conventional machinery to create sustainable value through intelligent infrastructure and human-centered technology,” he stated.
Under the LANDCROS identity, the company plans to expand its electric and autonomous machinery line, strengthen digital fleet management systems, and collaborate with partners to achieve carbon-neutral job sites.
Industry experts view this shift as a strategic reorientation aligning with global construction trends that emphasize productivity, sustainability, and smart mobility. For customers, the rebranding will not affect operations, warranties, or support — ensuring a smooth transition as LANDCROS rises to redefine the future of heavy equipment and infrastructure.
