Maharashtra Bans Fuel Without PUC From Oct 1

Date:

The Maharashtra government has made a brave and smart decision to protect the environment and public health. From now on, vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate will not be allowed to refuel at petrol pumps. This rule will begin on October 1, 2025. It is a significant step toward making the air cleaner and the roads safer.

We all know that vehicles cause a lot of pollution, especially in busy cities like Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur. When a car or bike does not follow pollution norms, it releases harmful gases into the air. These gases are bad for our health. They can cause asthma, lung problems and other diseases.

By making the PUC certificate compulsory for buying fuel, the government is reminding people to take care of their vehicles. A well-maintained vehicle pollutes less and uses fuel more efficiently. This move will also help reduce the traffic of old and badly maintained vehicles on the roads.

Petrol pump staff will be trained to check PUC certificates before giving fuel. This will also create more awareness among drivers. People will become more responsible toward the environment.

This rule is not just about punishment, but about building a better future. It shows that the government is serious about climate change and public health. Other states should also follow this example. Clean air is everyone’s right and Maharashtra has taken a strong step in the right direction.

Let us all support this change for a greener tomorrow.
