India’s Highways Go Barrier-Free!

Date:

India has taken a significant step forward in modernizing its road infrastructure with the introduction of the Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system. This innovative system, launched at the Choryasi Fee Plaza in Gujarat, marks the country’s first barrier-free tolling experience. The initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of national highways by eliminating traditional toll booths and reducing congestion.

The MLFF system utilizes advanced technology, including FASTag and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), to automatically collect tolls as vehicles pass through toll plazas without stopping. This seamless process not only saves time but also contributes to lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions, aligning with India’s commitment to sustainable development.

The successful implementation of MLFF at Choryasi Fee Plaza sets a precedent for other regions. Plans are underway to extend this system to 25 national highway toll plazas across the country in the current financial year. This expansion reflects the government’s dedication to improving road infrastructure and providing a smoother travel experience for commuters.

As India continues to modernize its transport systems, the MLFF tolling system stands as a testament to the nation’s progress. It not only enhances the efficiency of road travel but also demonstrates a commitment to innovation and sustainability. This development is a positive stride toward a more connected and efficient India.
