DPIIT Launches Model City Logistics Plans for Delhi and Bengaluru

Date:

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has unveiled model City Logistics Plans (CLPs) for Delhi and Bengaluru to enhance urban freight efficiency and reduce logistics costs. Developed under the Indo-German technical collaboration with support from GIZ’s Green Freight Project, these plans incorporate global best practices to address congestion, pollution, and improve urban living standards.

Backed by the Delhi and Karnataka governments, the CLPs offer a flexible framework that can be adapted by other cities across India. These initiatives aim to streamline logistics operations while aligning with the country’s broader goals of economic growth and environmental sustainability, including achieving carbon Net Zero by 2070. The plans are accompanied by suggestive guidelines to help state and local authorities tailor logistics strategies to specific city needs. Designed as a dynamic document, the guidelines evolve based on stakeholder feedback, offering structured steps for setting goals, analyzing freight challenges, and fostering collaborative strategies.

Aligned with India’s National Logistics Policy of 2022, the CLPs mark a significant step toward creating a sustainable urban logistics ecosystem.
