Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) to collaborate on the development and modernisation of railway infrastructure supporting power generation and coal mining operations.
The agreement focuses on developing, upgrading, renovating and constructing railway infrastructure to improve connectivity to DVC’s power plants and captive coal mining areas. The initiative is intended to strengthen freight transportation networks and streamline the movement of coal to power generation facilities.
The partnership will also cover the development of associated infrastructure, including rapid loading systems (RLS), coal handling plants (CHP), silo facilities and retractable overhead electrification (OHE) systems. These facilities are expected to support efficient coal loading, handling and transportation, helping improve logistics operations across DVC’s industrial network.
Through this collaboration, RVNL and DVC aim to enhance rail connectivity and strengthen the infrastructure required to transport fuel reliably to power plants. Improved loading and handling facilities could also help streamline freight movement and support operational efficiency across the coal supply chain.
The agreement aligns with RVNL’s railway infrastructure development activities and DVC’s requirements across its power generation and captive coal mining businesses.
The partnership highlights the role of integrated railway and coal logistics infrastructure in supporting power sector operations and improving the movement of essential industrial commodities.
