Global technology company Logitech has commenced local manufacturing operations at its production facility in Manesar, Haryana, marking a significant step in expanding its manufacturing presence in India.
The initial phase of production will focus on high-volume products, including keyboards and webcams. Manufacturing will be carried out through an assembly line operated by a manufacturing partner, allowing the company to establish its production capabilities and gradually scale operations.
According to Sree Chenincherry, Logitech’s Chief Supply Chain Operations Officer, the company plans to expand manufacturing in multiple phases. The initial focus will be on product assembly, followed by increased localisation of components and parts as operations become more established.
Logitech also plans to explore export opportunities from India in subsequent stages, potentially positioning the country as an important part of its global manufacturing and supply chain network.
The new manufacturing initiative complements the company’s existing research and development (R&D) and software and hardware development operations in Chennai. By combining its manufacturing activities with its established development capabilities, Logitech aims to strengthen its operational presence in the Indian market.
The move highlights the growing role of India in global technology manufacturing, as international companies increasingly look to expand local production capabilities and build more diversified supply chains.
