Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has inaugurated a record 125 infrastructure projects executed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in Ladakh, marking a historic milestone in India’s border connectivity and strategic infrastructure development. The projects, completed across challenging terrain and high-altitude zones, underline the government’s commitment to strengthening national security and boosting socio-economic development in remote regions.
The newly inaugurated works include strategically important roads, bridges, tunnels, airfield upgrades, and essential logistics infrastructure designed to improve military mobility and ensure faster response capabilities along India’s northern borders. Several projects also aim to support local communities by enhancing civilian connectivity, trade opportunities, and access to essential services.
Rajnath Singh commended the BRO for its exceptional execution despite harsh weather conditions, rugged landscapes, and logistical challenges. He emphasised that robust border infrastructure is crucial not only for defence preparedness but also for promoting regional development and tourism in Ladakh.
Officials noted that the BRO is accelerating its pace of construction through advanced engineering, modern machinery, and digital project management systems. With 125 projects inaugurated simultaneously, this marks one of the organisation’s largest achievements to date, reinforcing India’s commitment to building strong, resilient infrastructure in its strategic frontier areas.
