Tata Electronics Joins Hands with Pegatron: Acquires Majority Stake in Tamil Nadu iPhone Plant to Boost India’s Role in Global Production

In the technology manufacturing domain, Tata Electronics has entered into a joint venture with Pegatron, acquiring a 60% stake in Pegatron’s iPhone manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. This strategic move aims to bolster Tata’s position as a key supplier for Apple, aligning with efforts to diversify supply chains beyond China. The plant, which produces approximately 5 million iPhones annually, is expected to enhance India’s role in global iPhone production, with projections indicating that the country could account for 20-25% of global shipments in 2024.
