Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has outlined an ambitious roadmap for transforming India’s transportation ecosystem through clean energy, advanced technology and improved road safety. Speaking at WION World Pulse, Gadkari emphasized that the future of mobility will be driven by innovation, sustainability and efficiency.
A key focus of the vision is the adoption of green hydrogen as an alternative fuel. The government has already initiated pilot projects for hydrogen-powered buses and trucks on selected highway corridors, with participation from major industry players. Gadkari also highlighted the potential of drone taxis and emerging aerial mobility solutions, which could redefine urban transportation in the coming years. Road safety remains a critical priority in the government’s agenda. Gadkari stressed the need for stricter enforcement, improved road engineering and greater public awareness to reduce accidents and fatalities. Initiatives such as safer highways, advanced monitoring systems and driver training programs are being expanded across the country.
