Engineering giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced that its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) division has won a batch of high-value grid infrastructure contracts in Saudi Arabia, with total project value ranging between ₹2,500 crore and ₹5,000 crore.
The first contract covers the construction of a 380/33 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS), featuring hybrid GIS switchgear, 380 kV transformers and reactors, as well as an integrated system for protection, automation, telecom, HVAC and firefighting.
The second contract involves the turnkey construction of over 420 km of 380 kV overhead transmission lines, connecting new and upgraded grid assets as part of Saudi Arabia’s national renewable energy expansion plan (NREP).
The wins underline L&T’s expanding global footprint in the Middle East and its capabilities in large-scale grid infrastructure — a key area as Saudi Arabia accelerates its transition to renewables and strengthens its power evacuation networks.
Analysts suggest that these orders will contribute to L&T’s international order book and support margin visibility in upcoming quarters, while adding to its credentials in high-voltage transmission and substation execution.
