India Accelerates $1 Billion Hydropower Push in Arunachal Pradesh to Bolster Strategic Infrastructure

Date:

The Indian government has announced plans to expedite the construction of 12 hydropower stations in Arunachal Pradesh, a region also claimed by China. This initiative, with an investment of approximately $1 billion, aims to bolster infrastructure in the northeastern state. The federal finance ministry has approved up to ₹7.5 billion for each project, totalling around ₹90 billion. These projects, previously delayed due to private sector challenges, have now been assigned to state-run firms. This move underscores India’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure in strategically significant areas.
