Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL) has invited bids for a power transmission infrastructure project centred on a new grid substation at Pipra in Supaul district. The project is part of the state’s wider effort to strengthen its transmission network and meet rising electricity demand in north Bihar.
The scope of work includes construction of a 220/132/33 kV grid substation with the required transformer capacities. The contract also covers two 220 kV bays at the Saharsa substation of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), along with a 45-km 220 kV double-circuit transmission line linking Saharsa and Pipra.
In addition, the selected bidder will carry out line-in-line-out (LILO) connections on existing transmission lines. These connections will integrate the new substation into the current network and improve the flexibility of power flow across the region.
Valued at Rs 484.68 crore, the contract aims to boost regional grid capacity and ensure a more reliable electricity supply for Supaul and neighbouring areas. Better transmission infrastructure is expected to reduce supply disruptions and support the growing needs of households, businesses and agriculture in the region.
The last date for bid submission is December 4, 2026.
