The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced plans to prepare a comprehensive master plan for infrastructure development along the passport office stretch on Baner–Pashan Link Road, following rising traffic and civic concerns in the area.
The initiative comes after the relocation of the passport office, which has led to a significant increase in daily visitor movement, resulting in traffic congestion, parking shortages, and pressure on existing infrastructure. Officials stated that a joint site visit involving PMC authorities, passport office representatives, and traffic police will be conducted to assess ground-level challenges.
According to civic officials, the master plan will focus on improving road connectivity, creating adequate parking facilities, and enhancing overall traffic management in the area. The plan is expected to be finalized within a short timeline, after which execution of the proposed measures will begin.
Authorities emphasized that the move is aimed at addressing issues proactively, considering the high footfall at the passport office and the likelihood of increased demand in the future. Urban planners highlight that such targeted infrastructure planning is essential to ensure smooth public access and prevent congestion in rapidly developing zones.
The development reflects PMC’s ongoing efforts to improve urban mobility and civic infrastructure in key areas of the city.
