The Union Budget 2025-26 has received widespread appreciation from India’s logistics sector, with industry leaders praising its emphasis on infrastructure expansion, digital transformation, and policy reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency and global competitiveness.

Infrastructure and Ease of Doing Business:
Shashi Kiran Shetty, Chairman of Allcargo Group, hailed the Rs 1.5 trillion infrastructure allocation as a major catalyst for economic growth. He also lauded the Rs 25,000 crore Maritime Development Fund, calling it a “transformative step” for India’s shipbuilding industry. Shetty emphasized the need for regulatory reforms to further enhance business efficiency.

Private Sector and MSME Growth:
The logistics sector welcomed the government’s decision to make PM Gati Shakti data accessible to private players. Ketan Kulkarni, MD of Gati Express, believes this will improve infrastructure collaboration. He also highlighted the Export Promotion Mission, which will provide MSMEs with easier access to export credit and up to Rs 20 crore in loans, helping them scale operations.

Technology and Trade Digitisation:
The launch of Bharat Trade Net Platform has been termed a game-changer. Gayomard Driver, CFO of Jeena & Company, stated it will streamline trade and create employment opportunities, alongside investments in AI-driven logistics and geospatial infrastructure.

Air Cargo and Rural Connectivity Boost:

With a strong foundation in infrastructure, digitalisation, and private sector collaboration, industry leaders believe this budget will accelerate India’s logistics sector toward global competitiveness.
