The Government of Mizoram has signed a concession agreement with Hotel Polo Towers for the redevelopment of Chaltlang Tourist Lodge in Aizawl into the state’s first four-star or higher category hotel under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The project will be developed under the Design, Build, Finance, Maintain, Operate, Manage and Transfer (DBFMOMT) framework, marking a major step towards strengthening Mizoram’s tourism and hospitality infrastructure.
The agreement was signed between officials of the Tourism Department and Hotel Polo Towers at the Chief Minister’s Office. The project was awarded through a competitive bidding process following the Mizoram Public Procurement Rules, 2020, with Hotel Polo Towers selected as the successful bidder.
Under the agreement, the company will develop and operate the hotel for an initial concession period of 30 years, with the option of two additional extensions of 10 years each.
The upcoming property will include at least 60 guest rooms, with the potential to expand by another 40 rooms. It will also feature premium facilities such as restaurants, a lounge, gymnasium, spa, and other modern amenities.
The hotel will be designed for future upgradation into a five-star property, supporting Mizoram’s vision to boost tourism infrastructure and attract more visitors.
