French luggage brand Delsey Paris is evaluating local manufacturing opportunities in India as part of its strategy to expand its presence in one of its fastest-growing markets. The company is exploring partnerships with Indian manufacturers and contract production facilities, particularly for backpacks and travel accessories, with the aim of starting local production by early 2027.
India has emerged as Delsey’s fourth-largest market globally and currently contributes around 5% of the company’s worldwide revenue. The brand has witnessed strong double-digit growth in the country over the past few years, encouraging it to increase investments and expand its retail footprint. Delsey already operates more than 150 points of sale across India and plans to open additional stores in key cities.
According to company executives, India offers significant growth potential due to rising disposable incomes, increasing domestic and international travel, and growing demand for premium travel products. While Delsey currently sources only selected leather products from India, it is actively searching for manufacturing partners that can meet its global quality standards.
The proposed manufacturing initiative is expected to improve supply-chain efficiency, support faster market expansion, and strengthen Delsey’s position in India’s rapidly evolving premium luggage segment. The move also aligns with the company’s broader goal of doubling its global business growth by 2030.
