Nitin Gadkari’s Mega Plan to Revolutionise India’s Infrastructure and Mobility

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has unveiled an ambitious ₹10 lakh crore initiative aimed at transforming India’s transportation landscape. This comprehensive plan focuses on upgrading approximately 25,000 to 30,000 kilometers of two-lane highways to four-lane expressways, significantly enhancing connectivity and economic growth across the country.

Key Components of the Plan:

  • Highway Expansion: The project encompasses the widening of existing roads, construction of new bridges, and development of bypasses to alleviate traffic congestion in urban areas .

  • Sustainable Mobility: Emphasis on green mobility solutions, including the promotion of electric vehicles and the establishment of dedicated EV lanes on major expressways .

  • Smart Infrastructure: Integration of smart technologies for traffic management, road safety, and real-time monitoring to improve efficiency and reduce accidents.
