Tata Motors and Welspun Renewable Energy Join Hands for 86 MW Green Power Project

Date:

Tata Motors has announced a partnership with Welspun Renewable Energy to develop an 86 MW wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project. The initiative marks another important step in Tata Motors’ journey towards cleaner and more sustainable manufacturing operations.

Through a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), the renewable energy generated from this project will support Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle manufacturing facilities across Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Karnataka. The project is expected to produce nearly 200 million units of clean electricity every year while helping reduce more than 1.4 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

The hybrid project combines solar and wind energy to ensure efficient power generation throughout different times of the day and seasons. Solar energy will contribute during daylight hours, while wind energy will support generation during evenings and suitable weather conditions.

This collaboration supports Tata Motors’ larger sustainability roadmap and its commitment towards reducing dependence on conventional energy sources. The initiative is also aligned with the company’s RE100 goal of meeting 100 percent of its electricity needs through renewable energy by 2030.

With this project, Tata Motors continues to contribute towards India’s clean energy transition and a greener industrial future.
