As an expert observing urban development and sustainability trends in India, I strongly believe that the beginning of construction of Lucknow’s first Bio-CNG plant is a forward-looking and sensible move. Modern cities are struggling with two major issues, rising waste and increasing pollution. This project addresses both problems together in a practical way.
A Bio-CNG plant uses wet and organic waste such as kitchen waste, vegetable market waste and food leftovers to produce clean fuel. Instead of dumping this waste in landfills, it is processed scientifically to generate compressed biogas. This fuel can be used for city buses, municipal vehicles and other public services. For a growing city like Lucknow, this step shows planning with a long-term vision.
