Technical Textiles Key to Future of Construction Industry, Say Experts at Ahmedabad Conclave

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) hosted the Textile Conclave 2025 on Saturday, spotlighting the growing role of technical textiles in sectors including construction. Experts emphasized that high-performance technical textiles can revolutionize construction by offering enhanced durability, fire resistance, and sustainability in infrastructure development.

Saurin Parikh, chairman of GCCI’s Textile Task Force, highlighted the immense potential of technical textiles in construction, citing applications like geotextiles for roadworks, protective membranes, and insulation materials. He urged the industry to focus on innovation, collaboration, and policy support to meet modern construction needs.

Panelists stressed the need for increased R&D to develop advanced materials that can meet the demands of India’s growing infrastructure projects. The conclave also underscored the importance of government initiatives in driving the adoption of technical textiles in construction.

Industry leaders from machinery manufacturing and processing attended, emphasizing the need for new technologies and quality standards. With construction increasingly relying on innovative materials, the conclave set the tone for integrating textiles into future infrastructure solutions.

The conclave served as a catalyst for aligning India’s construction ambitions with advancements in textile engineering, paving the way for smarter, safer, and more efficient buildings.
