Bollywood Wallets Keep Mumbai’s High-End Real Estate Sizzling

Date:

Bollywood celebrities have once again underlined their influence on Mumbai’s luxury-property scene, clocking deals worth well over ₹150 crore in barely two months. At the top end, actor Akshay Kumar has liquidated six premium assets across Borivali, Worli and Lower Parel, netting a reported ₹103 crore—a move analysts see as tactical profit-booking in a rising market.

Adding to the momentum, actor Suniel Shetty and son-in-law, cricketer K. L. Rahul, jointly picked up seven acres in Owale, Thane West, for ₹9.85 crore, signalling renewed interest in land aggregation on the metro’s fringes.

On the buy side, actress Amrita Puri partnered with former HDFC Bank head Aditya Puri to secure a ₹37-crore, 5,446-sq-ft sky villa in Lower Parel’s Lodha World Towers—one of India’s tallest residential addresses.

Singer Rahul Vaidya realised ₹5 crore from selling two Oshiwara apartments, while Kajol exited a Powai flat for ₹3.1 crore even as she invested nearly ₹29 crore in Goregaon retail space.

Together, these high-profile transactions illustrate how celebrity capital is keeping Mumbai’s ultra-luxury segment buoyant despite broader market caution, reinforcing the city’s status as India’s most coveted—and priciest—address for star buyers and sellers alike.
