Noida International Airport Terminal Nears Completion: 80% Work Done

Date:

Noida International Airport (NIA) has reached a significant milestone, with 80% of its terminal construction now complete. The greenfield airport, located in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, is on track for its scheduled opening in late 2024.

Developed by Zurich Airport International AG in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh government, the airport aims to enhance connectivity and reduce congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The terminal’s design integrates sustainable infrastructure, with eco-friendly features such as solar energy utilization, rainwater harvesting, and advanced waste management systems.

Once operational, NIA is expected to handle an initial capacity of 12 million passengers annually, with plans for phased expansions to accommodate up to 70 million passengers. The airport will cater to both domestic and international flights, boosting trade, tourism, and economic growth in the region.

Key infrastructure elements, including runways, taxiways, and air traffic control facilities, are progressing steadily, with trials expected to commence soon. Officials remain confident that the project will meet its deadline, bringing Uttar Pradesh one step closer to becoming a major aviation hub.
