India’s construction equipment sector has received a significant boost as Action Construction Equipment (ACE) and Japan’s KATO WORKS have announced a 50:50 joint venture to manufacture high-capacity cranes in India. The new company, ACE KATO Pvt. Ltd., aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing while serving both Indian and global markets.
The joint venture will involve an investment of around ₹200 crore to establish a modern manufacturing facility in Haryana, with commercial operations expected to begin in 2026. The plant will manufacture truck cranes, crawler cranes and rough terrain cranes designed for infrastructure, industrial, mining and logistics applications.
By combining KATO’s advanced engineering expertise with ACE’s strong manufacturing capabilities and extensive domestic network, the partnership aims to deliver globally competitive lifting solutions with higher localization, improved cost efficiency and reduced dependence on imports. The collaboration also aligns with the Government of India’s Make in India initiative, reinforcing the country’s position as a growing hub for heavy equipment manufacturing.
According to ACE Executive Director Sorab Agarwal, the venture will help bring globally benchmarked crane technology to India while expanding the company’s presence in the high-capacity crane segment. Beyond meeting domestic demand, ACE KATO also plans to target export markets across Asia, the Middle East, Africa and other international regions, supporting India’s ambitions to become a global manufacturing and export base for advanced construction equipment.
