Shreejikrupa Project Limited (SKPL), a Raipur-based infrastructure firm, has emerged as the lowest (L1) bidder for an ambitious expansion by the Public Works Department (PWD), Assam. The contract, awarded for the proposed Kanaklata Baruah University construction project in Gohpur, Bholaguri, Biswanath district, encompasses the construction of multiple facilities on an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) basis. SKPL’s financial bid of Rs 336.63 crore, opened on 29 May 2025, secured their position as the preferred contractor.
Under the project’s scope, SKPL will oversee the construction of a central academic block, a common lecture hall complex, a hostel block, a mega mess, and a student facility centre. Additionally, residential units for the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar, a guest house, staff quarters, and a dedicated service block are included. Beyond mere construction, SKPL is responsible for comprehensive topographical surveys and soil investigations, as well as the preparation of architectural and detailed working drawings. Structural designs for all buildings will also be developed in-house.
A notable requirement is the commitment to sustainability: every structure must attain at least a three-star GRIHA rating, aligning with national green building standards. With groundwork slated to begin later this year, the project aims to blend academic infrastructure with environmentally responsible design, setting a benchmark for future educational institutions in the region.
