The preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for the ambitious Musi Riverfront Development Project in Telangana is moving ahead at a rapid pace. Covering three major aspects, the DPRs are nearing completion and will soon be submitted to the Union government for approval.
Key components of the project include the East-West Corridor Project, spanning 55 km from Narsingi to Godelli via the Outer Ring Road (ORR). The Riverfront Infrastructure Project, encompassing a 21-km stretch and the development of Bapu Ghat as “Gandhi Sarovar,” is divided into two phases: Phase-I from Osmansagar to Bapughat (12 km) and Phase-II from Himayatsagar to Bapughat (9 km). The plans also include constructing 11 heritage bridges over the Musi River, estimated to cost ₹1,000 crore.
The Trunk Interceptor Sewer Main Project, valued at ₹3,100 crore, will span 55 km on both riverbanks, treating sewage at STPs before discharging the treated water into the Musi River.
A consortium of firms, including Meinhardt, Cushman & Wakefield, RIOS, ZHA, and SOM, is preparing the DPRs under the supervision of the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged the Union government for financial support to expedite this transformative initiative.
