Mumbai’s BMC Budget 2025 Prioritizes Roads, Metro and Coastal Projects

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has unveiled its largest-ever budget of Rs 74,427 crore for the financial year 2025, with a strong focus on infrastructure development. This marks a 13% increase from the previous year, reinforcing Mumbai’s transformation into a global metropolis.


Key Infrastructure Highlights

  1. Road & Bridge Development – A major portion of the budget is allocated for coastal roads, flyovers, and bridge repairs to ease traffic congestion.
  2. Mumbai Coastal Road Project – The much-awaited Coastal Road Phase 1 is expected to be completed, offering improved connectivity from South Mumbai to the western suburbs.
  3. Metro & Transport Expansion – Investments will accelerate the Mumbai Metro corridors, reducing travel time for daily commuters.
  4. Stormwater Drainage & Flood Control – The civic body has increased funding for mitigating water logging issues, ensuring better monsoon preparedness.
  5. Healthcare & Civic Amenities – Upgrading BMC hospitals, digital health initiatives, and sanitation improvements remain a key priority.

With this budget, the BMC aims to enhance urban mobility, resilience, and sustainability, shaping Mumbai into a more efficient and livable city.
