LG Electronics India has begun construction on a ₹5,000 crore manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, a major step in the state’s industrial development. The foundation stone was laid by IT Minister Nara Lokesh on May 8, 2025.
Spanning 247 acres, the facility will commence operations in 2026 with air conditioner production. Over the next few years, the plant will expand to manufacture washing machines, refrigerators, and air conditioner compressors. By 2029, full-scale operations are expected, with an annual output capacity of 1.5 million air conditioners, two million compressors, 8.5 lakh washing machines, and 8 lakh refrigerators.
Supported under Andhra Pradesh’s manufacturing policy, LG’s plant will generate approximately 1,500 direct and 10,000 indirect jobs. The initiative aligns with the state’s vision to attract global manufacturers and boost employment.
Strengthening the regional industrial ecosystem further, four of LG’s key vendors will invest ₹839 crore to establish operations in Sri City. This collaborative move not only marks LG’s largest investment in India but also reinforces Sri City’s position as a premier electronics manufacturing hub.
