JD Logistics Launches JoyExpress, Its First Overseas Self-Operated Logistics Service

Date:

JD Logistics, the supply chain arm of China’s JD.com, has launched JoyExpress—its first self-operated international express logistics service—in Saudi Arabia. This marks a significant step in JD’s global expansion strategy, aiming to deliver same-day services using its own warehousing and delivery infrastructure.

With over 3,600 warehouses in China, JD Logistics is extending its logistics expertise to international markets, starting with the Middle East. The move comes as JD.com seeks to offset domestic growth slowdowns and pivot toward global opportunities.

Founder and chairman Richard Liu stated that JD has already laid a foundation in Europe and now intends to strengthen its overseas logistics capabilities. He described the last five years as a period of stagnation and emphasized the need for aggressive global outreach.

In addition to expanding logistics operations, JD is also exploring the use of stablecoins for faster and cheaper cross-border transactions—cutting costs by up to 90% and reducing transfer times to under 10 seconds.

With JoyExpress, JD Logistics is not only enhancing its presence in the global logistics market but also reinforcing its commitment to becoming a world-class, tech-driven logistics provider.
