Industrial and Logistics Sector in Kolkata Achieves 5-Year High in Supply

Date:

Kolkata’s Industrial and Logistics (I&L) sector is set to record a 5-year high in supply in 2023, driven by the completion of pending projects across the city and its outskirts. The total I&L supply for the year is projected to reach 5.2 million square feet, underscoring the city’s strategic importance as a gateway to eastern India and neighboring countries like Nepal and Bhutan.

Anshuman Magazine, Chairman & CEO of CBRE, highlighted this milestone as a transformative phase for Kolkata’s real estate sector, with quality supply fueling absorption and bolstering growth. The city is expected to sustain strong leasing activity, with total I&L leasing projected at 3.5 million square feet for 2023, maintaining levels from the previous year.

Key micro-markets such as NH-2, NH-6, and Taratala are driving this growth, supported by nearly 10 million square feet of Grade A logistics developments. Regions like Dankuni, Singur, Dhulagarh, and Uluberia are emerging as hubs for industrial and residential expansion, while Taratala offers a dynamic mix of industrial and commercial activities.

With sustained absorption and increasing demand, Kolkata’s I&L sector showcases resilience and dynamism, paving the way for continued growth in industrial and logistics infrastructure.
