The Indian government has unveiled an ambitious plan to build 50 new airports across the country, aiming to strengthen regional connectivity and boost the nation’s aviation infrastructure. Ram Mohan N, a senior official in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, highlighted that this initiative is part of a broader vision to position India as a global leader in aviation.
Delhi is set to play a pivotal role in this transformation, with plans to establish it as a global aviation hub. The capital city, already a major transit point for international travelers, will undergo significant upgrades to its airport infrastructure, enhancing its capacity to handle increased passenger traffic and cargo.
The government is also focused on implementing regional air connectivity schemes like UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) to make air travel affordable and accessible. The proposed airports will be strategically located in underserved areas to promote economic growth and tourism while providing better connectivity for Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
This development aligns with India’s goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy, as improved aviation infrastructure will foster trade, tourism, and investment. By modernizing its aviation sector, India is poised to emerge as a global aviation powerhouse.
