GRSE Unveils India’s First Double-Lane Modular Bridge in Ladakh

Date:

In a significant boost to infrastructure development in challenging terrains, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) has successfully launched a state-of-the-art double-lane modular bridge in the remote region of Ladakh. This milestone marks India’s first-ever launch of a double-lane bridge under the “Sura Series,” designed to ensure swift deployment and durability under extreme conditions.

Developed entirely in India under the Make in India initiative, the bridge spans 70 meters and can bear military-grade loads, including 70-ton tanks. Its modular design allows rapid assembly, making it ideal for high-altitude and border-zone applications where traditional bridge construction is difficult.

Installed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on the critical Nimmu-Padam-Darcha road, this infrastructure is expected to significantly ease troop and logistics movement while enhancing local connectivity. The development demonstrates India’s growing self-reliance in defense and civil engineering technology.

The successful launch reaffirms GRSE’s commitment to innovation in strategic sectors and underscores the importance of robust infrastructure in national security and regional development.
