Delhi Metro to Introduce Cargo Transport in Last Coach

Date:

In a strategic move to optimize metro infrastructure, Delhi Metro will soon transport cargo in the last coach of select trains during off-peak hours. This initiative aims to reduce congestion on city roads by shifting freight movement to metro corridors.

The plan, approved by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), is expected to enhance logistical efficiency while ensuring passenger convenience remains unaffected. The cargo operations will be conducted during non-rush hours, ensuring that commuters experience minimal disruption.

This innovative approach aligns with Delhi’s growing need for sustainable urban logistics and is likely to benefit e-commerce and small businesses by offering a faster and more reliable transportation alternative. If successful, this model could be expanded to other metro networks across the country, paving the way for efficient urban freight solutions.
