Cabinet Unveils Rs 3 Lakh Cr Plan for Jobs, Innovation, Sports & Highways

On July 1, the Union Cabinet green‑lit a sweeping package of key schemes totaling around ₹3 lakh crore, with a strong focus on employment, innovation, sports development and infrastructure enhancement.

A flagship Employment‑Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme, with nearly ₹99,500 crore in provisions, aims to generate over 35 million formal jobs during August 1, 2025–July 31, 2027. First‑time employees earning up to ₹1 lakh annually will receive a month’s wages (up to ₹15,000), while employers get ₹3,000/month per additional hire for two years, extended to four for manufacturing, promoting youth entry into the formal workforce and social security through EPFOA flagship Employment‑Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme, with nearly ₹99,500 crore in provisions, aims to generate over 35 million formal jobs during August 1, 2025–July 31, 2027. A Research, Development & Innovation (RDI) scheme, backed by ₹1 lakh crore, will support long‑term private investment in sunrise sectors via low‑interest or refinance mechanisms.

The National Sports Policy 2025, replacing the 2001 version, introduces a revamped governance framework aiming to elevate India into the top five sporting nations. It emphasizes grassroots talent, infrastructure, league structures, AI‑driven athlete tracking and positioning India as a global sports destination.

Additionally, approval was granted for the four‑laning (46.7 km) of Paramakudi–Ramanathapuram NH in Tamil Nadu at ₹1,853 crore, boosting coastal connectivity and regional economic growth.
