Bihar is poised to significantly strengthen its healthcare infrastructure with a new initiative to construct 50-bed Ayush hospitals across seven districts during the 2026-27 financial year. Announced by Health Minister Mangal Pandey, this development aims to widen access to traditional systems of medicine, specifically targeting the districts of Begusarai, Darbhanga, Motihari, Gopalganj, Gaya, Madhubani, and Siwan. This strategic move underscores the state’s commitment to integrating traditional healing methods into mainstream healthcare delivery and ensuring that alternative medicine is accessible to a broader population.
Speaking at a capacity-building workshop for practitioners in Patna, Minister Pandey highlighted the critical need for enhancing skills within the Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Unani sectors. The project aligns closely with the visions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to promote holistic health solutions. These new facilities will complement the state’s existing healthcare network, which currently includes 294 health and wellness centers already providing Ayush-based treatments, thereby creating a more robust and accessible traditional medicine ecosystem for the people of Bihar.
