Andhra Pradesh Floats ₹370.42 Crore Tender for Veligonda Project Canal Works

Date:

The Irrigation & CAD Department of Andhra Pradesh has invited bids for major canal infrastructure works under the Veligonda Project in Dornala Mandal, Prakasam district. The tender, valued at ₹370.42 crore, aims to strengthen the feeder canal system by ensuring efficient water flow and long-term structural stability.

The project scope includes providing cement concrete lining from km 0.000 to km 21.800 of the feeder canal and constructing CC retaining walls along vulnerable embankment sections. These measures are designed to enhance the canal’s durability and prevent erosion during high discharge periods.

The work also involves excavation through varied soil strata, including boulders up to 0.3 meters and ordinary rock up to 0.6 meters in diameter, without the use of blasting techniques. Additional components include embankment seating, formation of filter drains, and catchwater drains—crucial elements for maintaining the canal’s sustainability and performance.

Once completed, the canal is expected to improve water conveyance efficiency and support irrigation across large command areas in Prakasam district. The deadline for submission of bids is October 15, 2025, and interested contractors are encouraged to review the tender documents for detailed technical specifications and eligibility criteria.
