Artificial Intelligence (AI) is gradually gaining traction in the home-building sector, though widespread adoption remains limited among single-family home builders, according to recent industry insights.
As of July 2025, around 20% of builders reported using AI to create advertising and marketing materials, while 11% are applying AI tools for market analysis and project planning. However, fewer than 5% of builders are currently using AI for more advanced tasks such as project design or operating automated construction machinery.
Looking ahead, there is notable interest in expanding AI adoption over the next two years, especially for streamlining marketing, advertising, and planning processes. Yet, enthusiasm remains relatively low for integrating AI into on-site construction tasks and design automation.
The findings stem from a survey conducted among home builders in partnership with a housing market research index. While AI has yet to become a staple in the residential construction industry, the momentum is building as more firms explore its potential to boost efficiency, reduce manual labor, and improve decision-making during pre-construction phases.
As the technology continues to evolve, builders may gradually shift from cautious experimentation to more widespread implementation of AI-driven solutions across the home-building lifecycle.
