A senior Minister from the Government of Jammu and Kashmir conducted a high-level review meeting with the Chief of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in Jammu to assess the progress of ongoing border infrastructure development projects.
The review focused on the construction and upgradation of strategic roads, bridges, and connectivity corridors in border and remote areas of the Union Territory. These projects are considered critical for improving civilian mobility, strengthening defence logistics, and ensuring year-round connectivity in challenging terrain.
Officials discussed timelines, land acquisition issues, weather-related constraints, and the need for faster project execution. The Minister emphasised the importance of inter-departmental coordination to address bottlenecks and ensure timely completion of priority works, particularly in sensitive border regions.
The BRO Chief briefed the Minister on the current status of road widening, tunnel construction, and bridge strengthening initiatives. Emphasis was also placed on adopting modern construction techniques and ensuring quality standards in high-altitude and difficult geographies.
Industry observers note that border infrastructure plays a dual role—supporting national security while also enabling economic activity, tourism, and essential services in remote communities.
