DP World has entered into a collaboration with the Government of Madhya Pradesh to establish a modern inland logistics hub with direct rail connectivity, aimed at improving cargo movement from central India to global markets. The agreement marks a significant step toward strengthening multimodal logistics infrastructure in the state and was announced during an international investment forum held in Davos.
The proposed facility will be developed at Powarkheda on a land parcel of over 88 acres and is envisioned as a comprehensive logistics ecosystem. It will feature rail-enabled container handling linked to Mumbai’s key port infrastructure, along with warehousing solutions, cold-chain storage, and space allocated for value-added activities such as aggregation, processing, and light manufacturing.
By offering seamless rail access and integrated logistics services, the hub is expected to lower transportation costs and reduce delays for exporters, particularly those operating in agriculture, food processing, and manufacturing sectors. Businesses across districts like Indore, Dhar, and Raisen are likely to benefit from faster and more dependable access to domestic and international trade routes.
The project supports Madhya Pradesh’s long-term economic development strategy by encouraging private investment, improving export readiness, and enhancing supply-chain resilience. Once operational, the logistics hub is set to play a key role in positioning the state as a central link in India’s evolving trade and logistics network.
