Trunk Tools Secures $40M Series B to Scale Construction-AI Platform

Date:

Trunk Tools, an AI-powered construction technology startup, has raised $40 million in a Series B funding round led by Insight Partners, with participation from Redpoint Ventures, Innovation Endeavors, StepStone, Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures, and Prudence. This brings the company’s total funding to $70 million.

Founded by Dr. Sarah Buchner, who began her journey as a jobsite carpenter at age 12 and later earned a PhD in civil engineering, Trunk Tools has developed AI reasoning agents that transform unstructured construction data—such as blueprints, RFIs, schedules, and submittals—into actionable insights. The platform allows field teams to interact using natural language, acting as a “ChatGPT for construction sites.”

The company has witnessed a fivefold revenue increase in the past six months and is currently deployed across hundreds of construction projects in the U.S. and Canada. Its AI agents help manage workflows, flag scheduling risks, and integrate with popular construction tools like Procore and Autodesk Build.

The new funding will support product development and market expansion, especially targeting small and mid-sized contractors. Insight Partners’ Jeff Horing praised the platform’s modular AI approach, positioning Trunk Tools as a leader in solving construction’s longstanding productivity challenges.
