Tragic Fire in Jhansi Hospital’s NICU Claims Lives of 10 Newborns, Investigation Underway

In a tragic incident on November 16, 2024, a fire broke out in a neonatal intensive care unit of a Jhansi hospital in Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the deaths of 10 newborn babies. The blaze, caused by suspected electrical short-circuits, led to suffocation and burns. The Uttar Pradesh government has formed a four-member committee to investigate the incident and provide a report within seven days. The state health department has promised stringent measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
