Date:

Darjeeling MP Raju Bista has urged Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to accelerate key infrastructure projects in the region, emphasizing their importance for tourism and economic growth.

Bista highlighted the urgent need for the expansion and improvement of crucial highways connecting Darjeeling with other parts of West Bengal and Sikkim. He also pushed for the speedy implementation of ropeway projects, which he believes will significantly ease transportation challenges in the hilly terrain.

With tourism being the backbone of Darjeeling’s economy, better road connectivity and modern transport solutions like ropeways are essential. Bista stressed that these projects will not only enhance accessibility but also boost local businesses and improve the overall quality of life for residents.

He expressed confidence in Gadkari’s leadership, citing the minister’s track record in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects nationwide. The MP urged the government to expedite approvals and funding to ensure timely completion.

The demand comes as part of a broader push for infrastructural development in North Bengal, aligning with the central government’s vision of modernized and efficient transport networks.
