Ports, Shipping, and Logistics to Drive Growth in India’s Maritime Sector

India’s maritime sector continues to be a cornerstone of its economic progress, driving trade and enhancing global connectivity. Speaking at the 12th Biennial International Conference on Ports, Shipping & Logistics 2025 in Mumbai, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal emphasized the sector’s critical role in shaping India’s future growth trajectory.

Highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts to modernize ports and improve logistics infrastructure, the Minister noted that efficient maritime systems are key to achieving the country’s ambitious export targets and boosting the ease of doing business. He called for greater adoption of digital solutions and sustainability practices across the logistics chain to ensure long-term resilience and competitiveness.

Goyal also underlined the importance of public-private partnerships and investment in capacity building to meet rising global demand. The conference brought together stakeholders from across the maritime industry, including policy makers, port operators, and logistics providers, to discuss strategies for growth and innovation.

India’s vast coastline and strategic location position it as a natural hub for international shipping. With the right reforms and collaborative efforts, the sector is poised to become a global leader in maritime trade and logistics.
