Need for Financial Support for Indian Cities to Boost Infrastructure Development: GITAM Vice-Chancellor

Date:

The Vice-Chancellor of GITAM University has emphasized the critical need for increased financial support for Indian cities to accelerate infrastructure development. Speaking at a recent urban development conference, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted that without adequate funding, many cities will struggle to meet the growing demands of urbanization, including transportation, waste management, housing, and utilities.

India’s cities are rapidly expanding, and with this growth comes the urgent requirement to modernize and expand infrastructure. The Vice-Chancellor stressed that both state and central governments must allocate more resources to support sustainable urban planning and development, while also encouraging private sector investments through public-private partnerships.

Experts agree that the financial constraints faced by municipalities hinder the timely execution of critical projects, affecting the quality of life for residents and the overall economic potential of urban areas. Enhanced funding and effective management strategies are essential to building smarter, more resilient cities that can accommodate future population growth.

With the right financial support, Indian cities can transform into modern, sustainable urban hubs that drive economic growth and improve the standard of living for millions of citizens.
