In its second council meeting held June 12, 2025, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) approved landmark measures spanning employee welfare, utilities, and healthcare enhancements.
A key welfare win includes the one-time regularisation of Type‑I and Type‑II quarters in the names of spouses or wards of retired or deceased NDMC employees who are currently serving—along with waivers on dues and penalties, exemplified by a ₹24 lakh fine being withdrawn. NDMC chairman Parvesh Verma emphasized: “This is about honouring families who served NDMC for years”.
On the infrastructure front, the council greenlit replacement of over 35‑year‑old 33 kV power cables to reduce faults, alongside procurement of hydraulic jetting machines for stormwater drainage upkeep.
Healthcare workers also benefited, with approval for Hospital Patient Care Allowance and conveyance allowances for NDMC medical staff, retroactive to July 1, 2017—recognizing their critical role.
Overall, this meeting marked a significant stride toward enhanced civic services, employee welfare, and system-wide reliability—reinforcing NDMC’s commitment to modern, citizen-centric governance.
